The difference in Self Storage

The difference in Self Storage

Storage, to many it would seem just like a corrugated iron room with a door and a padlock, but there is a vast difference in the quality of self storage, with often a small difference in price.  When choosing a storage facility, customers should ensure the quality of the ventilation, buildings and premises.  This is due to the fact that not all storage facilities are purpose built, thus this allows for mould, rodent and other issues.

For business customers some storage facilities offer receipt and dispatch areas’, cardboard recycle bins and flexible opening hours (for those that are not 24 hours), additionally the option to upsize and downsize their storage space should also be evaluated, as their stock levels change.  Small importing businesses tend to find that as they expand their customer base their personal home simply isn’t big enough, or they have expanded their business to the point of ordering a container from their supplier.  Containers cannot be dropped off at a residential address, so a requirement for self storage is discovered, this also allows for the peace of mind that the product will not deteriorate in quality, as it often can, if left in a container for extended periods of time.

Whether the storage is for a residential or a business purpose the options should always be weighed up as many customers think they require more storage than they often do.  Generally short term storage customers will go for a space slightly larger than what would be required, however long term customers will opt for a minimum size space to minimise the price of their storage.

Wow, I never thought about the ventilation in a storage space. I definitely don’t want mould in my self storage. Thank you for telling me!

Thank you for your comment. Yes, it is something that is often overlooked when making a decision on which storage facility to go with.
